Thanks for joining me. My name is Angus and I’ll be the editor of The Cricket Report. I’m simply a big cricket fan and want to utilise some of the skills learnt during my sports journalism degree at university to write about this great sport and, hopefully, get my name out into the cricket journalism world.
Up to the end of last season in Australia, I had played cricket every season from 2006 to 2018. You do the maths, that’s a decent amount of cricket for just a 22-year old. I’ve only every played local club cricket, but I have played, umpired and coached my younger brother so certainly know enough to write about the sport. In terms of skill when playing cricket, I’m not great.
However, when it comes to writing about cricket, I have been lucky enough to spend two months in India in 2017 following the IPL, writing for the Kings XI Punjab, and I also did a blog while I was there which you can check out here. I have also had articles published on The Roar and Fox Sports Australia.
The dream, the goal is to have a sustainable, reliable and enjoyable website that I run with fellow cricket fans and can hopefully make a living out of cricket reporting. That is a long way in the future but got to start the journey somewhere.
For anyone looking for a fans perspective of the game, then this is the place to be. I will be covering as much as I can on the international stage, but will mainly be focusing on England and Australian cricket. From the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in 2018 to the Ashes and the Men’s ODI World Cup in 2019, you’ll get the previews, reviews and other information you need to keep you up to date right here on The Cricket Report
